On lightdm, a notification will appear; click the “Ok” button:

Step 3: Configure Lightdm
Set lightdm using tab keys as your default display manager.

Step 4: Reboot the system
Once MATE Desktop has been installed, restart your computer by hovering your cursor over the system tray or by using the reboot command:
sudo reboot
To choose the desktop environment, click the button next to the username:

Select “MATE,” then enter the password to sign in:
